Alternative Dispute Resolution

There are several ways to do your case other than "fighting it out in court." You can do it yourself or through a paralegal, you can hire a "mediator" to work with the parties together, you can hire a retired judge to hear litigated issues, or there is a new trend, "collaborative law", where the attorneys agree to resolve the case informally and each agrees that if the case goes to court they will drop out.

Our experience has been these are all rather superfluous methods. All cases must be submitted to the court ultimately, and an attorney can function in each of these roles without labeling it for what is essentially a marketing purpose. If two parties truly want to work a case out informally, any experienced attorney can facilitate that.

Indeed, almost all cases are worked out informally, even if the matter is in court. Only a very small percentage of cases actually go to trial, and even at trial a large percentage of the issues are ultimately agreed to once the obvious is established. Any experienced attorney will tell you that the old axiom "the truth will out" is true when the case is litigated by an attorney who knows their job.
